Sammie is the first animal that we have funded to help that didn’t make it. This 11 year old Rottweiler came in for the night to his home looking very disoriented and “out of it.” The owners took him in for an initial vet exam, but could not afford the recommended blood work. The Sergei Foundation was able to pay for the full panel blood work. Sammie was very, very weak, had pale gums and showed low levels in some of his blood work. Initially, it was thought Sammie may have a tick-born disease and was put on meds. However, Sammie declined in health that night, started having seizures, and couldn’t really walk on his own.

Another organization, Fur Ever Friends, helped pay an emergency vet visit for them to CVS the following day. It was thought there was a brain tumor involved. Sammie was in such dire shape, the owner’s decided it best to put him down.

This story is a bit dear to The Sergei Foundation’s heart as that is what happened to Sergei in the end as well. Rest in peace, Sammie. We all tried for you!
