Who We’ve Helped

Here are some of the hundreds of pets who have been helped by The Sergei Foundation. We try to post pets and their stories when we can get photos from the owners or the vets who treat them.

Oakleigh – helped Dec. 2019

Oakleigh has hair folicles growing “inside” her eyelids… acting like razor blades! Ouch, she is in so much pain, but we #createhappytales! She is going in to Dr. Sigle, eye specialist at Carolina Veterinary Specialists, for a procedure next week to freeze the hair folicles so they do not grow under the eyelid (and will not grow...

Beef – Helped Nov. 2019

Beef is just a 4-month old kitty. In need of a bood transfusion asap.. The family was totally at a loss for what to do; A single mom had to try and comfort her daughter who was begging to get help for Beef. Kids do not understand the constraints of adults and that there was no credit to even charge the procedure. A veterinary partner of ours where Beef was initially taken recommended The Sergei Foundation. So happy we stepped in asap to coordinate care and get Beef to a lower-cost ER vet to admininister for our $1,000 max award.  It was touch and go as her vitals were quite poor, but she...

Squirt – Helped Nov. 2019

Squirt was thought to have a broken leg – he was not using the leg and it even was turning backwards a bit. But when the veterinary Xray showed now broken bones or fractures, it was deemed more muscle degeneration. Conservative treatment was given with medicine to strengthen and therapy suggestions, but we may need to amputate in a few weeks if progress is not seen. Prayers and healing for him is welcome!

Luna – Helped Nov. 2019

Luna is just 6-months old. She was not walking well and the owner took her to the vet. From birth, she does not have developed hip sockets, so the legs are not “staying.” The Sergei Foundation funded her to be seen by an orthopedic vet (versus ER facility) in early November. It was confirmed that this case is severe, and Luna would need this surgery on BOTH sides in order to be able to walk and support her growth. Our ER program is funding the first surgery on Dec. 3rd, and has used our maximum award of $1,000. Donations that come in may be designated to Luna’s second...

Meely – Helped Nov. 2019

Meely was in dire condition, not eating, not eliminating, and listless. The Sergei Foundation does pay for diagnostics (one of the only ones!). We found she was so blocked, but also her kidney values were so out of range – start of kidney failure, that sedation to do the enema could be fatal. Before the blood work was taken, Xrays also showed a fractured tail (long term injury – the owner knew it was there from adoption), and compressed discs in the spine. The owner was already beside herself with worry for her pet, but sometimes veterinarians can overwhelm owners will all that...
