Jasper is a seven year old domestic short hair cat. You may be able to tell if you look closely at his chin, that he had surgery to wire the bottom of his jaw together.The Sergei Foundation was able to help with his jaw surgery in cooperation with FurEver Friends. The accident that broke his jaw was not seen, but the vet thinks he was hit by a car because the two halves of his bottom jaw were disconnected/broken. Jasper had to have a couple of teeth removed as well.
Without surgery, Jasper would not have been able to eat, which we were told by the vet could have led to possible liver failure. After surgery, the owner reported that he is eating on his own and seems to be healing well.
Jasper is declawed and an indoor cat, but the owner let him sit outside on the porch and that is when something happened (so please, do not leave your pets unattended, no matter how short of a stint you think it may be).
