Butch was almost “butchered” unnecessarily! This 11-month old Catahoula Leopard Dog (this picture is when he was younger) received an x-ray from a licensed veterinarian who said Butch had an internal blockage and suggested GI surgery. Needing help financially, the owner contacted us. Because the vet gave such a large range for a quote, we had the owner take the x-ray to another vet for a complimentary review to help provide a more accurate estimate for such a surgery.
Because the quality of the film x-ray was too poor for a comfortable second opinion, The Sergei Foundation paid for a digital x-ray, which did not show a blockage, but symptoms of Parvo; indeed, Butch tested positive.
The owner did not vaccinate, so we could not help further with treatment costs. However, because Butch was almost a year old he was able to follow the vet’s advice for fluid intake and some medicine. Butch is fully recovered!
