Please lift Honee’s family up in your thoughts and prayers. She did not make it after we helped pay for emergency treatment for what appeared to be a Brown Recluse bite. However, she had necrosis of the tongue that could not be repaired; she needed to be humanely helped to cross the rainbow bridge as she would not be able to eat or drink on her own, among other things. After further evaluation, Honee was deemed to have chewed through an electrical cord.

Meet Mufasa! This bull-mastiff had a back tumor that became severely infected and topical treatments since July were not helping. We were able to help with needed surgical removal before it ruptured. Happy to report he is doing well.

Molly – Helped October 2013

Molly had suddenly stopped walking and could not stand.  Initial vet visits suggested a ruptured disc.  Her mom went on a fund-raising campaign for this expensive surgery!  With a grant from Duke University’s vet school and some assistance from us, Molly was able to get her spinal surgery. She is standing, and wagging her tail… yet to walk, but we are hoping that is the next step.

McQueen – Helped September 2013

McQueen – Helped September 2013 McQueen is only 11 weeks old. He ate a sponge-like object that got lodged in his intestines. Nothing could pass through. Surgery for this 3.5 pound guy was successful! It appeared inadequate blood supply to the bowels from the obstruction may be a slight concern, but his youth and the timing of the surgery should encourage a full recovery. McQueen made his first bowel movement while in recovery (good news!), and he went home yesterday (9/14) to rest and heal with his family.
