Lady Sarah Jane – Helped Aug. 2015

Lady here fractured her front, right leg – just above her “wrist.”  It’s a difficult break to fix in itself, but because of funding, the leg wasn’t “set” properly. Although the leg was splinted for six weeks by a vet, it was thought to need amputation. The original vet could not schedule surgery for a month, so we used one of our vet partners to have this procedure done. The good news is, when this vet took x-rays, the bones had already started to heal/re-grow! Amputation was avoided. We assisted with the X-rays and splinting.

  1. Good news on Lady! The vet took Xrays prior to the amputation and liked what he saw!…. bone growth around the break and the leg seemed stable now that they could move it around more while she was sedated. So we are just re-bandaging it and sending her home There is no guarantee the leg will not have further problems or re-injure, but we would rather cross that bridge if we come to it rather than unnecessarily amputate. Keep on healing, Lady Sarah Jane.
