Lexie – Helped September 2014

Lexie is a service animal, alerting her owner when her sugar level gets to a dangerous range. The Sergei Foundation assisted with funding towards Lexie’s surgery this week to remove a mass on her knee. Although benign, it was draining, turned green and large enough to be life-threatening if it burst before surgery. We hope to get an updated photo soon and an update from her mom!  We’ll keep you posted.

Jorge – Helped September 2014

Jorge (pronounced by owner as “hor-hay”) is in surgery this morning for a full-mouth extraction. He has had continual problems of not eating and mouth infections, got two teeth extracted in June, but it is a serious problem that unfortunately won’t heal until all teeth are removed. The specialist vet says cats adjust quite well to this and actually learn to eat hard food again. Prayers for Jorge for the surgery and his adjustment to his new lifestyle!

Heidi – Helped September 2014

Heidi was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her foot got caught in a wooden bird house she accidentally stepped in, and her leg broke as she tried to get loose. We are happy to help with funding for Heidi’s surgery this week which requires a pin to be put in the leg. (She currently has it splinted, as seen here.)

Muffin – Helped September 2014

The owner thought muffin had a broken tail or something wrong as she would not sit down normally and would lie on her side.  We assisted with a vet visit but found out that she had an extreme allergy/dermatitis from fleas.  The owner immediately cleaned the house and bought flea medicine. Although we do not assist with that type of care, the owner was happy to find the problem and Muffin is happy to be an all-indoor kitty… the cat door is now permanently locked!

Ateo – Helped September 2014

Bear-chasing in Boone! Ateo forgot he was a senior pet and tore his ACL when he was protecting his family by chasing a bear off the deck. We help pets of all ages and assisted with a specialty vet visit. The surgeon said medicinal and PT is a better option than invasive surgery because of a variety of factors (age, tear in other leg, arthritis). A little R & R for Ateo and the owner’s commitment to joint and arthritis meds will hopefully bring improvement. Quick healing, Ateo! UPDATE!  Ateo actually did receive ACL surgery and is now operating at 90% on that leg...
